EUROPE AT WAR

30-04-2024

Europe is at war, a third world war, with Putin's Russia, and maybe with some of his allies in the future. And Europe's future is at great risk. U.S support - as Europe received in two world wars and the Cold War thereafter, is uncertain at best, with the prospect  of Donald Trump as next president. Putin, in power since the end of 1999, is doing exactly what had announced from the outset: restore the Russian Empire by force in war with Europe and America. The genocidal war in Ukraine is bound to have a follow up against  NATO and EU Europe.

The European Union must act in self-defence and must do so right away. As one can read in the attached article, the EU is not ready. It promises and pretends a lot, but is not up to the task before it, despite the changes over the last two years. Its decision-making structure is too complicated to enable any of its institutions to decide couraguously and forcefully. The national prima donnas must still learn  to serve the common good of Europe.

Western Cooperation

Footprints of the 20th Century - Third Edition

Description

For the study of international relations, knowledge of the history of Western Cooperation in the Twentieth Century is essential. The third volume reviews the broader history from America’s entry in the First World War in 1917 and the start of the American Era in international relations one hundred years ago, to the inauguration of President Trump in 2017.

Neither Justice nor Order

Footprints of the 20th Century - Third Edition

Description

This fifth and final volume offers a critical assessment of the state of the law of nations. In the twenty first century the world needs true global law anchored in the dignity of the human person rather than weak international law built on the interests of major sovereign states.
