ILLIBERATION DAY

03-04-2025

President Trump proclained April 2 Liberation Day. Of course as my title indicates, for most Americans and also for us Europeans, the opposite is true. The American people are the first ones to suffer from high import tarifs. National selfsufficiency is a backward dream. What made America great were its open borders and its many immigrants who enriched culture and elevated universities to the best ones in the world. The Trump Administration in its second term doe not understand. Trump 2 is driven by revenge and vanity.

He takes revenge not only against Biden, but against the United States as it evolved since Woodrow Wilson's idea of making the world safe for democracy. What made America great since 1917 and 1945, is exactly: to be part and leader of an alliance of democracies, by example, assistance and cooperation. Trump's MAGA does exactly the opposite as one can follow when reading his tsunami of Executive Orders  and lhe Oligarchs he conspires with., the worst one Elon Musk.

Revenge  and vanity  are poor councillors. Dismissing competent federal workers by loyal nobodies is self-defeating and paves the way to dictatorship.

Western Cooperation

Footprints of the 20th Century - Third Edition

Description

For the study of international relations, knowledge of the history of Western Cooperation in the Twentieth Century is essential. The third volume reviews the broader history from America’s entry in the First World War in 1917 and the start of the American Era in international relations one hundred years ago, to the inauguration of President Trump in 2017.

European Unification into the Twenty First Century

Footprints of the 20th Century - Third Edition

Description

The story of European Unification is fascinating. In 1950, two sworn enemies – France and Germany – decide to seek reconciliation and European federal unity. As a first step, they created the European Coal and Steel Community together with Italy and the Benelux countries. The fathers of this new Europe were visionary persons. Does today`s student or scholar still know who Robert Schuman, Konrad Adenauer, Alcide de Gasperi or Willem Beyen were and what they stood for?
